Third of RSSU Cup student competitions finishes

RSSU Chess Cup among students was held with Russian Student Chess League support this year. More than 70 players take part in the event, they will compete in 9 rounds according to the Swiss system.

After three days, FIDE Master Danila Sutormin (FEFU, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy), Dail Guzikov (TPU, Tomsk), Victoria Kobozeva (Dubna University, Moscow Region), Ruslan Pakhomov (NEFU, Yakutsk), Michael Barash (SWSU, Kursk) and Bibek Ting (RUDN, Moscow) have no loses.

RSSU rector, doctor of economics and Russian Student Chess League President told us about competitions in details.

- This year RSSU Student Cup is held in a different format. We can say that RSSU Cup among students has already transformed to Student Chess League as all previous tournaments of students-grandmasters have let our University, Russian Chess Federation, Russian Sport Student Union made a decision about Student Chess League establishment.
- Already this time more than 70 students from different universities take part in the event. I see that the next year Moscow Open will become a title competition for all students. There are around 3 million students from 600 universities in our country, which means that at least 1000 of them will participate in the Cup.

- And will that be a new record?
- Why not? I think that would be great!

RSSU Cup among students is held in individual and team competition format and is the qualifying tournament for the World Championship among amateurs.

The prize fund is 600 000 rubles, including grants for the participation in the World Amateur Championship in Greece (Eritrea, 18 – 28 April 2016).
