Junior World Chess Solving Championship Starts

The First Junior FIDE World Chess Solving Championship started on Monday, 1 February 2016 within the Moscow Open Chess Festival. A day before, 31 January 2016 an open tournament on problem and etude solving took place. 28 young players from Russia, Ukraine, Kirgizia and Morocco participated in the event. They had to solve 6 compositions: 2 two moves, 2 three moves, 1 four moves and 1 etude.

None of the players managed to gain the maximum possible points (30). Although 4 of them got 25 points: Konstantin Novikov, Alexey Popov, Danila Palov and Danila Moiseev.
Taking into account the time spent on the solving, the list of winners looks as follows:

1. Konstantin Novikov (85 out of 120 minutes)
2. Alexey Popov (98 minutes)
3. Danila Pavlov (118 minutes)
4. Danila Moiseev (120 minutes)

The best results among girls: Ekaterina Dyakonova - 21 points (116 minutes); Marina Skorobogatova - 21 points (118 minutes); Anna Afonaseva and Svetlana Tishova - both gained 20 points with the same time of 120 minutes.

1st February is the first day of Junior FIDE World Chess Solving Championship. There are players from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, Poland, Mongolia and Morocco who participate in the event. The best players will be defined in up to 15, 17 and 19 years age groups. Competitions results will be winded up February 3, 2016.
