These days 1.800 chess players from 38 countries of the world take part in the traditional, 12th International RSSU Cup – 2016 Moscow Open, one of the biggest in the number of participants chess festivals of the world. The main tournaments of the Moscow Open have crossed their equator today.
After five rounds Urii Eliseev (Moscow) with 5 points in the sole leader in the men’s competitions. Anton Korobov (Ukraine), Shamsiddin Vokhidov (Uzbekistan), Ernesto Inarkiev (Moscow), Artyom Timofeev (Kazan), Dmitry Kokarev (Penza), Vladislav Artemiev (Omsk) and Miran Oganian (Sochi) with half a point less are behind.
In the women’s tournament 14-year-old Alexandra Obolentseva captured the leadership. The FIDE Master from Moscow is the only of 142 participants of the tournament, who managed to win all 5 games. Five chess player scored half a point less and follow the leader: Anastasia Bodnaruk (St. Petersburg), Swaminathan Soumya (India), Lilit Galojan (Armenia), Baira Kovanova (Elista) and Elmira Mirzoeva (Moscow).
In the Veterans’ RSSU Cup the Muscovites Evgenii Vasiukov and Sergey Arkhipov with 4,5 and 5 points respectively show the best result so far, as well as international masters Anatoly Kremenetskiy and Dmitry Losev.
In the Amateurs’ tournament there are five leaders after five rounds – they are Pavel Toropov (Tatarstan), Sergei Volkov (Moscow), Valentin Vlassow and Grigory Malyshev (both from Pskov region), Andrey Sbitnev (Udmurtia).
The games of the Round 6 will be played on Thursday, Feb 4.
